Dressed Down Chic
Posted on January 18 2016
Let's be honest, if we could dress in pajamas all the time we would always be comfortable and happy. But unless you're on your couch in the middle of a Netflix binge its probably best to step up your look a little.

Even if you're just running errands or working out, changing into a real outfit affects your confidence! Lucky for you, lounge wear has come a long way in recent years and is totally appropriate to wear outside the house. There are so many new options out there that it can get overwhelming. Don't fret- we are here to help with our favorite lounge pieces that can be worn in the comfort of your own home as well as on the weekend when you are sick of being "buttoned up" all week. Follow our tips below and check out our collection of lounge wear here.
1. Proportion is key!
Make sure that if you are going baggy on bottom, wear something tight on top and vice versa. Do not wear loose clothing all over, you'll have no figure. You don't want to end up looking frumpy or sloppy.
2. Don't forget about hair and makeup.
I know you are probably wanting a makeup free run out of the house day but you'll end up hating your look. Just add a little powder, concealer, blush, and mascara for a natural look. Make sure hair is polished and not messy and thrown up in a hair tie. Try a ponytail, even a low one, or bun if you are in a hurry!
3. Check your shoes
Now I'm not insinuating you put on a heel but the shoe can make or break the outfit. A sneaker is totally fine as long as it doesn't look like it belongs in your Dad's college closet. If you're going to yoga, barre, etc. add a strappy sandal, or easy flat. Avoid Uggs and plain rubber flip flops at all costs.
4. Steal a piece from your "work closet"
I love purchasing items that can be worn for work as well as casual. Try adding an easy silk blouse, blazer, slouchy cardigan, leather jacket, chambray top, etc. to your sweats and you will feel more tailored and less sloppy. If it's cold outside, add a scarf to your look and you'll be warm and stylish too. One of my favorite brands that transcends the pajama and work look is the Araks brand. Great silk tops that can be worn to bed as well as every day, no one will ever know.
Feel free to take these tips and be lazy all over town but make sure to check your look in the mirror before you leave the house. If something doesn't feel right, change it. And hey, it's a great way to make people think you made it to that morning workout (but we'll keep that one to ourselves!).
Now go spruce up your look this New Year with our stylish chic picks for you.
