Trend Translation: Suede
Posted on February 03 2016
The fashion pack still isn't over its 70's-inspiration love affair with with all things suede. Usually relegated to our fall wardrobes, suede has come out to play in the spring for this fashion cycle.
This soft and delicate fabric is making a comeback, and it’s one of the most surprising trends we've seen during the spring/summer shows. Seen on the runways of Rebecca Minkoff, Alberta Ferrerri, Olivier Rouesteing, and Jonathan Saunders, what makes this a trend worth investing in is in the fabric which can be worn year-round. Suede is now season-less, much like how leather has been the past few years. You no longer have to feel limited to rocking suede during certain parts of the year.
Whether you go for a sexy dress or a supple high waisted short these pieces couldn't feel more of-the-moment (or any softer, either).

Suede is very tactile and super inviting to touch. When wearing suede, play up its textural element by pairing it with contrasting fabrics. Combinations such as suede and silk, suede and patent leather, and suede and chunky knits are all great places to start.

A suede mini skirt is the perfect way to wear this trend during the spring and summer months. Team a suede mini skirt with a loose singlet or blouse and pair with strappy leather sandals for a chic off-duty look.

Suede pants might not be at the top of your must-have list but they should be! They're not only on trend but the supple fabric feels great against the skin.

Zimmerman featured this stunning suede dress on the runway. This suede beauty is dreamy and beautiful but the color is hard to pull of more most skin tones, the length is very unforgiving, and it's a bit too low for everyday wear.

The street style version of this look is easy, flattering, and the perfect example of effortless chic.
