Yeeeeehaw!
Rodeo is only days away and if you're from Texas then you probably know how huge of a deal it is! Every year at NRG, rodeo-goers gather for a month filled with live music, yummy carnival foods, fun-filled rides, bull riding competitions, shopping, and other activities! For most Texans, it's the one time of the year where we dress up in our most western get up. The months leading to March usually consist of shopping for that one perfect western outfit. But why buy something that you’ll only wear once a year? As long as you own cowboy boots, invest in pieces that you can wear outside of rodeo. Rodeo is basically Texas fashion week and you may be thinking, Can I mix brown and black? Do I have to wear cowboy boots? Can I wear cowboy boots with a dress? Can I wear brown with denim? If questions like these are racing through your mind, don't worry! We are here to help you find the perfect outfit. Here are some go-to pieces that are perfect for rodeo and that can be worn after.
Staple #1
Denim Dresses
Denim dresses are a great alternative to jeans for rodeo. They are a one-piece solution and can be dressed up or down. Feel free to pick a turquoise belt or necklace to accentuate your waist and update a simpler jean dress. Or even layer a bunch of necklaces for a fun look!

Staple #3
Old School Levi's
We love Levi’s because of their structure and fabric. Most are 100% cotton and a bit thicker than other jeans these days. They are a true American jean. Depending on your activities for the day, you can pair your jeans with a fun tee for a relaxed look or a printed blouse for a concert. We tend to gravitate toward jeans that have a little extra oomph to them so you can stand out in the crowd.

Boots: Gameday Boots Oklahoma State Dama Boots $158

Suede Outerwear
Houston weather is crazy and March can become chilly especially after the sun goes down. It is always a good idea to layer during this weather. Instead of a denim jacket, pair a suede jacket or vest for a different look. You may think we are crazy but suede and florals complement each other very well as they are both very soft. Add a white denim skirt and boots and you’ll be ready to rodeo!
But wait, isn't there a rule about mixing black and brown? Well, whoever came up with the "no black and brown mixing" rule was definitely not from Texas. Brown and black are neutral colors so they really go with anything! So when it comes to accessories, you shouldn't hold back on mixing the two.

Staple#5
Fringe & Turquoise Accessories
Don’t forget the accessories. We believe you can totally go overboard with jewelry at Rodeo Events, the more the better! If your outfit already has strong pieces, stick to one or two bold accessories. Try a statement earring or ring. Now if you are wearing a more simple look, make the statement with your jewelry! Layer a few necklaces with different textures and weights or do the same with your arm candy! Pick one area to make a statement and keep the rest a bit simpler.
