July 4th Style Guide | Where to Wear•
Posted on June 09 2017
To quote the ever-patriotic Ron Swanson from Parks and Rec, "History began on July 4th, 1776. Everything before that was a mistake."
Now, that might not be 100% true, as without our friendly, neighborhood haute couture houses across the pond, we wouldn't have some of our favorite high-end fashion brands (like Louis Vuitton and Chanel)!
Nevertheless, America's birthday is something to be celebrated, as many of the red-white-and-blue pieces below are from some of our favorite US-based brands!
Raise a glass to America in your signature style and independent look this Independence Day by browsing our top five outfits below!
A graphic tee/tank and cutoffs combo (like this Others Follow Stars and Stripes Tank and James Jeans Boyfriend Shorty) is so Americana classic and couldn't be more perfect for a BBQ or low-key get-together. Toss on these Top Gun-esque Giorgio Armani aviators and comfy, lightly cushioned Emma Hope sneakers for all-day wear.
You don't have to wear an American flag to inspirit your beach or poolside outfit with festive flare. Even with the limited red-white-and-blue color palette, there are limitless styling possibilities!
For example, this striped Brynja Swimwear bikini is an oh-so-subtle nod to the flag, and this breezy, beachy Soft Joie sundress with its white base lets statement-making pieces, like this long pendant necklace and poppy-red Utility Canvas beach bag, stand out! These bohemian, handmade, and leather Matta sandals are versatile for both the beach walk and the sand.
This simple, silk Hunter Bell trapeze dress in an American cobalt blue is the perfect complement to this classic, black leather Tart Collections jacket that can take your look from the house party to the roof for fireworks! These nude Vince Camuto stiletto heels are unassuming but sexy, and with these pop-of-red stud earrings and a Scarlet Johansson-inspired cat-eye and red lip, you'll have a fun and easy ensemble that goes beyond any US-celebratory holiday and into every cool summer evening!
This silk Madewell top in a muted ivory and with whimsical crochet lace is so soft and sweet for your family and friends' picnic! The light-wash blue of these Sea New York culottes is neutral enough to go with just about anything! Add some flare to the festivities with these star-spangled Matisse flats, and be prepared for the picnic fun under the sun with these Karen Walker cat-eye sunnies and this spacious but ultra-lightweight Clare V. purse!
Say cheers to America's birthday with this cherry-red Hunter Bell jumper that is both sexy AND sophisticated—suitable for a night on the town with your girls! These ankle-strap Trina Turk pumps with gold details tie together the gold accents of these dangly earrings and this navy blue Kempton & Co. tote.
