How to Dress Like Alexis Rose from Schitt's Creek on a Budget
Annie Murphy plays Alexis Rose in the hilarious Canadian sitcom Schitt’s Creek. Alexis and her family are forced to move to the small town of Schitt’s Creek after they lose their massive fortune. She plays one of the many humorous characters but tends to stand out due to her glamorous boho looks and bright personality. Her style is a constant reminder of her fabulous former life which makes the show all more captivating. What she once wore to nightclubs and yacht parties, is now her everyday getup as she runs errands and hosts game nights at the motel. Throughout the series, we see her in high-end clothing from brands like Derek Lam, Isabel Marant, and Chloe. (Foreign names to a small towner) Her outfits usually come off as “extra” or absurd because of their lack of function (hence, the time she wore heels to community service). But what do you expect from a girl whose closet mainly consists of designer dresses and sky-high heels? Blending in is not an option to Alexis and neither should it be for you. That is why we came up with a guide of her best looks that can be easily copied. But if you’re anything like us, you may be thinking, but where can I buy Alexis Rose outfits for cheap? Luckily for you, we’re all about finding great deals on fashion.
While making this guide we asked ourselves, how we can dress like Alexis from Schitt’s Creek without breaking the bank? Not only did we re-create her best looks, but we included items that are marked up to 90% off retail. Introducing our first-ever guide on how to dress like Schitt’s Creek Alexis Rose on a budget. Enjoy!
It's official, we've coined the nickname "Boho Queen" for Alexis from Schitt's Creek. Why? Because she can make even the plainest outfits look so boho and chic! Take a look at this getup from season 3 episode 8. We see Alexis sitting outside in a white fringe poncho and denim shorts. It's an easy outfit and is great for transitional seasons like spring and fall. But, what makes this look super stylish is her use of accessories. Notice how her statement necklace, rings, and neutral-toned hat keep the outfit from looking too basic. This look can be copied with the items below:
We've seen Alexis rock many patterns but one of our faves to see her in is floral print. Floral print is a boho essential and arguably an all-around fashion staple that's been around for centuries. That's why Alexis's outfit from season 6 episode 4 is next on our list. Here we see Ms. Rose in a bright red flower printed sleeveless dress by Reformation. We love this look because it can be easily copied as most of us already own a similar style dress. If you like to keep it modest, opt for attire that features a higher neckline and sleeves. Finish the look by adding large hoop earrings and matching bangles.
Next, we see the former-socialite reuniting with the spotlight. In season 6 episode 5, Alexis has a red-carpet moment in an Asymmetric Draped Lamé Mini Dress by Saint Laurent. Most of us don't have red-carpet events to attend however, metallic dresses make the perfect ensemble for holiday parties. Channel your inner Alexis Rose this winter and pair a metallic dress with long fringe earrings and strappy heels. Want to add even more glam? Wear your hair like Alexis, curled and parted to the side.
Everything is bigger in... Schitt's Creek? In Season 6, Episode 9, Alexis wears a striped tiered sleeve mini dress by Caroline Constas. We love these (very) exaggerated tiered sleeves but you can opt for a dress with a bell, flounce, trumpet, or bishop sleeve. Finish the look by wearing drop earrings, a high bun, and leather sandals. See the items below for inspiration:
Grandma's old quilt has taken a modern turn for the better. At least that's what thought while watching season 3 episode 3 of Schitt's Creek. In the episode, we see Alexis wearing a beautiful medley of floral prints and we could not be more obsessed. Reproduce the style by wearing a long-sleeve, mixed floral pattern mini dress, just like the ones here. If you want to add a little more, you're in luck as florals usually contain multiple colors, making them easy to mix and match. So don't be afraid to throw in other patterns like stripes, dots, and animal print. Keep the shoes solid to balance the outfit.
In the season 6 premiere, we see Alexis in one of her most laidback looks yet. She's wearing a white twist front top from Zara and Metallic Silk-blend Jacquard Flared Pants by Chloé. Her hair looks fabulous in this half-up-half-down top knot bun and goes perfectly with the outfit. We love this look because it's effortlessly chic and easy to replicate. If you haven't already, upgrade your plain white tee to a twist front/knot tee and marry it with printed, neutral-colored pants. Finish the look by adding layered necklaces, bulky bangles, and geometric rings. Take a peek at our spin on the style:
Next on our list is a look from season 4 episode 5. The boho queen steps out with her brother David (played by Daniel Levy) in the Harriet Crochet Dress by Isabel Marant. We love this look because crochet dresses can be worn to formal events, casual outings and even to the pool as a swim coverup. Copy this look by wearing a floppy hat and lace-up sandals. Here's what we came up with:
In the "Open Mic" episode of season 4, Alexis looks fabulous in this blue crossover velvet dress by Zara. Along with floral, velvet is a boho essential and belongs in everyone's closet. We love the fabric because it is a classic material that can be worn beautifully on women of all ages. When it comes to Alexis from Schitt's Creek, we can expect to see the fabric take on a bohemian vibe. Copy Alexi's style by pairing a velvet dress with a long circular fringe necklace just like the ones below:
In the "Bachelor Party" episode from season 11, we see Alexis standing out at the local bar with Stevie in a Cold Shoulder Metallic Chiffon Mini Dress by Alexander Mcqueen. When making this blog we asked ourselves, "How can we replicate this look without paying Alexander Mcqueen prices?" Well, we first noted all the characteristics that make this dress unique. When looking at this dress we noticed 3 major things, the shine, the texture and the cut. In other words, you can copy this look by wearing something that contains metallic fabric, ruffles and/or a cold shoulder. Here's what we picked out:
Last but not least is Alexis in a beautiful printed one-shoulder dress (Ricco dress) by Isabel Marant in season 11's episode, Meet the Parents. We included this dress because of it's unique pattern and edgy cuts. To copy this outfit look for dresses that feature one-shoulder and an asymmetric hem. Throw your hair in a high bun and add a geometric bangle to complete the look.
